MASTER’S DEGREE IN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND SPORTS (traditional modality)

With four majors (specific competences of the program):

Health Promotion (PS)

Diagnoses, prescribes, and evaluates physical activity health programs with high professional level through appropriate diagnosis and intervention to influence health and life quality.

High Sportive Performance (ARD)

Designs and applies sports training programs at different organizational levels, in public and private institutions, to achieve high sportive results through avant-garde planning models for athlete training.

Physical Education (EF)

Designs and implements physical education programs using curricular planning and inclusive pedagogical practices according to the needs and interests of students at different educational levels.

Sports Management (GD)

Designs and evaluates sports projects through the use of total quality models to meet the needs of users and organizations with a socially responsible approach.

PURPOSES:

Professional program whose purpose is to educate masters with epistemological, axiological, conceptual, and methodological principles, aimed at finding problem solutions to the social needs of sports, physical education, and physical activity as means of health, wellbeing, and sports management with an inter and transdisciplinary educational approach. With ethical, humanistic, and permanent inquiry attitudes, masters will be prepared to diagnose and intervene in real contexts thanks to the continuing development of their professional skills.

LENGTH OF COURSE:

The master’s degree program has a minimum length of 2 years (4 semesters) and a maximum length of 2 and a half years (5 semesters).

GENERAL AND SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

1. The student will be able to distinguish, analyze, and evaluate the healthy physical condition during the development of each individual, depending on their characteristics, as well as the indications and contraindications of prescribed exercise and the possible effects on their life quality.
2. The student will be able to analyze, design, and implement physical education programs using curricular planning and appropriate pedagogical practices for the different educational levels.
3. The student will be able to identify and associate the phases of the administrative process in the development of their profession for the organization of sports events, projects, programs, evaluation of sports entities, etc.
4. The student will be able to distinguish, relate, and assess the physiological and psycho-pedagogical aspects of sports training, with the purpose of recognizing the functional capacity of the individual to improve their sportive results.
 
ADMISSION PROFILE

The applicant for the Master’s Degree in Physical Activity and Sports must have undergraduate experience in sports and physical activity, as well as the knowledge that justifies their admission due to the existing relation between their academic and professional education and this master’s degree.
Besides, the student must have experience in physical education, management, promotion, and practice of some sports discipline or physical activity.
The student must also show an adequate domain of their mother language in oral and written form. Orally, the student will have to show coherence, fluency, and correctness. In written form, the student will have to show unity, clarity, and cohesion through proper writing, as well as understanding, analysis of information, and ability to use new technologies.

The student must also show attitudes such as willingness to work, responsibility, commitment, self-improvement, and restlessness to respond to social and labor problems.
